Tri Digest Subscribers,
Switzerland's Reinhard Standke (mailto:reinhard_standke@csi.com), the press
relations officer for TriSuisse, has kindly provided some results and
insights out of the ITU World Duathlon Championships in Calais, France. He
writes: "Just some notes while heading back to Paris after a 10-hour day of
duathlon in Brittany." Thanks, Reinhard!
Elite Men -
Millon and Vansteelant run together in the first 10 km. The Belgian broke
away on the seventh and last of the bike laps and secured 66 sec on the
line ahead of best runner and two-time champ Millon. (Millon won in 1999
and 1998, and took silver in 1997).

Elite Women -
Again, a sprint between Forrester and Lindley, while weather changed to dry
but more windy. Soeder made it third. Best bike split for Soeder - she was
40 seconds back after the first run - and soon joined the leading six in a
pack.

2. Brent McMahon (CAN), +0:26

The three medalists rode together. Spirig lost 7 sec in T2 but quickly re-joined
the two. She and Paterson got away, but 18-year-old Spirig could only leave
the Brit behind in the rain when sprinting the final 700m. (Britain's

London triathlon, she said).
