ETU CUP-GERARDMER:
from Triathlon Digest - www.triathlonlive.com
The ETU Cup took an interesting turn with the inclusion of a half-Ironman
race amid its usual Olympic-distance races. Raced in the rain and with cold
temperatures, down to 8°C at "Col de Grosse Pierre" the highest point of
the bike course. Bevan Docherty waited until after the 19km mark on the run
to take the lead and eventually finish with a very narrow margin.

3. Kate Allen (AUT) 4:30:01 (36:00, 2:30:14, 1:21:29)
After 6 races of the 9 race ETU Cup series Bevan Docherty is currently the
leading man

understood how this may effect Docherty's current points lead.

SYDNEY BOUND
Ian Hepenstall is off to Sydney to watch triathlon and swimming. Like so
many triathletes Hep is travelling on a tight budget and is grateful to
Aussie Tri Media man Nick Munting for providing him with accommodation. So
much Triathlon knowledge under one roof sounds dangerous.
Tri Updates hopes to have at least one report from Ian while he is on the
ground in Sydney

OLYMPIC PREDICTIONS
Later this week I will committ to my Olympic predictions. Anyone else game
to name the three medal winners male and female ?
------------------------------------------------------------------------

So Fresh Express Multisport Race
A new school category has been added to the So Fresh Express multisport race
catering for those as young as 13 years old.
Encouraging younger skiers and snow boarders to give multisport a go is the
idea behind the new section and prizes will be allocated for the youngest
individual competitor and the first team home in the category.
The So Fresh Express runs in conjunction with Queenstowns Spring Carnival on
Saturday the 16th of September and offers competitors the chance to combine
three different disciplines in one event.
"We've always had a few boarders in the event but we would like to see more
and in particular snow boarders who compete as an individual and try out the
whole course. We're also keen to have younger kids entered so that they can
get a feel for this style of event because they will be the future
competitors of multisport." says race director Geoff Hunt.
Southern Milk products have become the naming right sponsors of the race and
marketing manager John Grant says Southern Milk products promote healthy
lifestyles through diet and participation in sporting events.
The race consists of a 2km ski or snow board on The Remarkables Ski area , a
17km mountain bike ride down to Frankton beach and then a 6km run along the
Frankton Rd track into the Memorial Gates in Queenstown.
