Use of "New Zealand" in event titles

It has been brought to the attention of the Executive Board that on a few
occasions the title "New Zealand" or "NZ" has been used unofficially in
promoting events. The governing body of Triathlon, and Duathlon in New
Zealand is "Triathlon New Zealand". The events that are approved or
sanctioned by our body are governed by strict safety codes and rules.

Should any member want clarification of our sports National Championships,
including Approved or Sanctioned events, then please contact National
Office or a member of the Executive Board .
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Race Levies

As it comes to the end of the local triathlon season, Triathlon New Zealand
would like to thank all those event organisers who have paid their race
levies. The funds we receive go towards the running of the national
federation and the various commissions such as selection, coaching,
technical, youth and media. We would also like to remind other race
organisers who have not yet sent in their levies, to please do so. The
payment would be most appreciated.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Championship/Selection Events

Triathlon New Zealand remains committed to establishing a three year
forward plan of National Championships and Selection races. It is
Triathlon New Zealand's desire to host the best possible National
Championship events. However we recognise, where possible, a geographical
spread of Championship events within a given year would be most
desirable.

National Championship/Selection events may be awarded for a period of up
to three years to enable organisers to secure sponsorship for an ongoing
period. Applications are called for 2000, 2001 and 2002. Although we are
currently negotiating with some event organisers, we now invite
applications of interest for all National Championship/Selection events.

As all Championships are high profile events, serious consideration should
be given to participants' expectations. Our technical commission is
available to assist you regarding course design etc. Please also
consider hosting a National Championship Multisport event.

Already Finalised:

ITU Oceania/New Zealand Triathlon Distance Championships,
Gisborne, 3 January 2000

New Zealand Championships Long Distance
Championships, - 1/2 Ironman, Mount Manganui, 8 January 2000.
